About

This may eventually be an ‘about’ piece of writing. I’m thinking it will be a ‘why and ‘what for’ more than anything else. It might be a page that helps me clarify in my own mind and heart what this blog will be about. I guess in the end it’ll be a reflection of myself. About just seems like such a cramped little box.

One thing I keep thinking about is the nature of this blog. I keep thinking it would be better if it was focused on one subject. That way it would attract a certain person/market/element and be, well, focused. Like the title, Rififi Nation, it’s got a lot to do with my cafepress store Rififi Tees and product and my designs and wanting to do good work and have fun doing it and at the same time make some money.

But. I just can’t help feeling that to try and focus this blog like that is wrong. Maybe not from a marketing point of view but from a life and living point of view. I’m not running some forum on one specific subject where if you talk about something else you risk getting banned. And although much of society is divided up into fragments like work, family, religion, politics, school, etc., I feel it can’t be separated. Health, psychological health is being able to view it as a whole undivided event or action. Maybe that sounds nuts, I don’t know.

That’s why I’ve decided to let this blog be about anything and everything that strikes my fancy. So I won’t get big and famous or rich because I’m a great marketing mind. Screw it. Life’s too short to be taken down that narrow road.

That might also be why I called this blog Rififi Nation. Well, I feel like it’s kind of my own personal dark humor. Another way we, humans, fragment ourselves is by nationality and borders. This time it’s not only psychological but physical as well. And so for me I can only see the earth being healthy when this human invention called nations and borders and nationalism and patriotism comes to an end. Rififi Nation would be one world. No borders.

This is getting kind of long. I’m not sure what else to say. Rififi Nation is about ‘whatever’? Does that sound ok? I’ll come back to this later and see what I feel.
